Bye, bye baby

This sweet baby deer wandered into my yard this morning and fell on the ice.  When we got to her, she could not stand so Kurt helped her to her feet.  She walked to a dry spot and lie down.  After a few hours, Kurt felt she would be better in the woods so he placed her across the street, very near our home, in a protected environment.  Unfortunately, when he went to check on her a short time later, he found that she had died.  We don't know why she died but feel so horrible that we could do nothing to help.  Sometimes mother nature makes us sad.
